Democrat Janet Cruz won an easy victory in a special election for the District 58 state House seat today. Cruz replaces Michael Scionti, who resigned from his post in December to take a job with the U.S. Department of Defense. Among those at Cruz’s victory party: State Rep. Gov. Charlie Crist just called a special election to replace Democratic Rep. Michael Scionti of Tampa, who accepted a post at the U.S. Department of Defense. Scionti, who represents parts of Hillsborough County, including West Tampa, Town ‘N Country and Seminole Heights, was first elected in 2006.
