Jeb Bush Jr. calls Rubio’s Earth comment ‘strange’

On CNN Tuesday morning, Jeb Bush Jr. — the son of former Florida governor Jeb Bush — said Marco Rubio gave “kind of a head-scratching type of answer” to a recent question about the age of the Earth.

“It was a strange question and I guess kind of a head-scratching type of answer,” he said. “We’ve got to be a pro-science and pro-technology party. I think Marco Rubio is just that. But we also can’t forget about our traditional values.”

Rubio told GQ Magazine that he couldn’t say how old he thinks the planet is. “I’m not a scientist, man,” he said. “I don’t think I’m qualified to answer a question like that. … Whether the Earth was created in seven days, or seven actual eras, I’m not sure we’ll ever be able to answer that. It’s one of the great mysteries.”
