Lightning beats Anaheim despite two nullified goals

in Sports/Top Headlines by

Half of their goals didn’t count, but the Tampa Bay Lightning started its West Coast road trip off with a victory Wednesday night.

The Lightning won 2-1 despite having two second-period goals nullified. The first was on a high-stick by forward Nikita Kucherov, and the second was on goaltender interference by Ryan Callahan. Still, the Lightning scored two that counted, one by Jonathan Drouin and one by Jonathan Marchessault.

For Drouin, who also had an assist, it was his first action after missing six games with an injury.

The Ducks scored one goal on a shot by Corey Perry.

Tampa Bay goaltender Ben Bishop stopped 32 of 33 shots.

The Lightning, 12-11-3, plays Saturday night against San Jose and Sunday night against Los Angeles.
