They weren’t dazzling. They weren’t dangerous.
For most of the night, however, the Tampa Bay Lightning finally was desperate enough.
The Lightning, losers of five of their previous six games, stopped the Arizona Coyotes 2-0 Saturday night.
Goaltender Ben Bishop stopped 31 shots for his fifth shutout of the season and a franchise-record 15th of his career. The Lightning killed off back-to-back power plays in the second period.
Ondrej Palat scored in the final minute of the first period, and Nikita Kucherov added an empty-netter with 47.6 seconds to play. For Palat, it was his 13th goal of the year. For Kucherov, it was No. 27.
The Lightning returns home to start a six-game homestand Tuesday night against Detroit.
