Lightning shut out again by Minnesota as team struggles continue

in Sports/Top Headlines by

At this point, it is hard to argue that the Tampa Bay Lightning is anything other than a mediocre hockey team.

Seven wins, seven losses. Thirty eight goals scored, thirty goals given up. One game the Lightning appears to be breaking out of its slump. The next they look as if they are right back in it.

The Lightning lost another 1-0 hockey game Saturday night, this time to Minnesota. It was the seventh time the Lightning has failed to score more than one goal โ€“ three of them shutouts โ€“ and sixth in their last seven games.

If you can feel sympathy for anyone during the streak, it is goaltender Ben Bishop, who has given up only eight goals in his last five games…and lost them all. Devan Dubnyk stopped all 31 shots by the Lightning.

Jared Spurgeon scored the only goal of the game in the second period.

The Lightning has a three-game homestand this week, hosting Buffalo on Tuesday, Calgary on Thursday and Florida on Saturday.
