Lightning wins sixth in a row behind Russian Front

in Sports/Top Headlines by

There for a while, Edmonton goaltender Andres Nilsson must have wondered if he was in Tampa.

Or, perhaps, in Moscow.

The Tampa Bay Lightning won its sixth straight game, beating the Oilers 6-4.

The Tampa Bay Lightning started its night off with goals from Nikita Nesterov, Nikita Kucherov and Vladislav Namestikov. Meanwhile, goatender Andrej Vasilevskiy won his fifth straight in net.

It wasn’t just about the Lightning’s Russian players. With the score tied at 4-4, American Brian Boyle outraced Nilsson to the puck and slammed it in for a shorthanded goal. Alex Killorn, a Canadian, finished things off with an empty-netter.

The Bolts led 4-2 before Edmonton came back to tie the game with 15:31 to play.

Tampa Bay has now scored three goals or more in six straight games.

The Lightning plays host to Chicago, the team that beat them in last season’s Stanley Cup playoffs, last year.
