Lobbying update: Ophthalmologists retain Ballard Partners

The Florida Society of Ophthalmology (FSO) has retained the services of Ballard Partners to assist the Society with its advocacy and legislative efforts for the 2012-2013 legislative session. The FSO represents the interests of all Florida ophthalmologists to promote and protect the medical specialty of ophthalmology through legislative advocacy, continuing medical education, and disseminating responsible information to ensure the delivery of the highest standard of eye care throughout the state of Florida.

“As licensed medical physicians, our first priority is always the safety and well-being of our patients,” said Charles Slonim, MD, President of the FSO. “But we also know that, as physicians, we are uniquely qualified to help shape health care laws and policies in Florida that affect all citizens in our state. Physicians by nature serve as patient advocates in interactions with other doctors and administrators, so it makes sense that we would advocate on their behalf before the Florida legislature as well. We chose Ballard Partners to assist us in advocating for patients and our profession because they share our concern for public safety and welfare.”

“The Florida Society of Ophthalmology is an organization that Ballard Partners is proud to be associated with,” said Brian Ballard, president of Ballard Partners. “With our legislative insight and executive level know-how of veteran insiders, we are poised to represent the FSO in their efforts to protect patients on every level, including issues that concern all physicians across the spectrum of practice areas.”
