Local media note: Creative Loafing partnering with Huffington Post for RNC coverage

Reading Creative Loafing‘s “Guide to the RNC”, it’s impossible not to notice how much of its coverage originated from Huffington Post writes, such as Jon Ward.

“In addition to the content by HuffPost political journalists in our two RNC print editions, including the special edition that went to hotels and the convention center” explains CL editor David Warner, “CL’s offices in Ybor are also serving as a home base for HuffPost’s ‘citizen journalists’ — the bloggers they selected from a nationwide search to cover the RNC — and for some of the HuffPost staffers who will be in Tampa to cover the convention.”

Like the arrangement between POLITICO and the Tampa Bay Times, this is another smart example of a local media outlet (Creative Loafing) partnering with a national powerhouse (HuffPo) to expand its coverage.
