Loranne Ausley to announce plan to clean up Tallahassee outside of $48 million “Taj Mahal”

Florida Chief Financial Officer Candidate Loranne Ausley will hold a press conference at 11:45 am outside of the “Tallahassee Taj Mahal” to announce her four-part plan to clean up the mess in Tallahassee. As a former legislator and outspoken critic of Florida’s closed door budgeting process, Ausley understands the games politicians play with taxpayer money – and she has a plan to put a stop to it.

Who: Loranne Ausley
What: Press Conference re: Plan to Clean Up the Mess in Tallahassee
When: 11:45 am – Tuesday, August 10, 2010
Where: Sidewalk Outside of the 1st District Court of Appeal Building (Southwood), Drayton Drive, Tallahassee, FL

Yesterday, Ausley condemned the $48 million “Tallahassee Taj Mahal,” which she voted against in 2007 as a member of the Florida House of Representatives from Tallahassee. As reported in the St. Petersburg Times, the new 1st District Court of Appeal building features private judge’s chambers stocked with 60-inch LCD flat screen TVs, private bathrooms with granite countertops, and private kitchens.

“The Tallahassee ‘Taj Mahal’ is symbolic of everything that’s wrong with the system in Tallahassee, just a complete disregard for taxpayer dollars,” said Ausley. “Floridians deserve transparency and accountability, and that’s exactly why I’m running for CFO, to hold politicians accountable and finally put an end to sweetheart deals.”
