Southern rock icons Lynyrd Skynyrd have canceled a Sunday night RNC concert because of the looming threat of Tropical Storm Isaac. No word on whether the invitation-only show — to be performed in Liberty Plaza, a tented performance space close to the Tampa Bay Times Forum — will be rescheduled.

Skynyrd lead singer Johnny Van Zant released a statement: “With the weather conditions unknown and for the safety of our fans and friends, it is best to cancel the show and not put anyone in harm’s way.”
