Magic reach an agreement to hire Frank Vogel as coach

The Orlando Magic are under new management.

It didn’t take long after the resignation of coach Scott Skiles to find his replacement in former Indiana Pacers coach Frank Vogel, who the Orlando Sentinel reported have reached an agreement in principle.

The Magic had to move quickly. The Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets ad New York Knicks all had an interest in Vogel, 42.

In six seasons in Indiana, Vogel had a record of 250-181. He reached the playoffs in five of his six seasons.

With the Magic, Vogel will have a young team seeking direction. It has not been to the playoffs for foour seasons. Orlando won 35 games this season.
