St. Pete may not be the official Margaritaville, but Mayor Rick Kriseman will be bringing a cheeseburger in paradise to XM radio listeners later this month.
When programmers from XM channel 24 asked Kriseman to be a guest host, the answer was absolutely yes.
“I am excited to be a guest DJ on SiriusXM Radio Margaritaville,” Kriseman wrote in a statement. “I’ve been a Jimmy Buffett fan for a long time, and this is a special opportunity to play some great songs. I hope everybody tunes in.”
According to the mayor’s communications director, Kriseman has already recorded a segment introducing various Buffett tunes.
Kriseman chose songs he felt had special meaning to him and the burg.
Just a little sneak peak, one of them was handpicked from Buffett’s 2010 benefit concert in Alabama when he raised money and tried to woo tourists to the Gulf Coast despite tar balls popping up on beaches as a result of the BP oil spill.
Expect Kriseman to give a Buffett-fan intro to each of the songs for a little less than a half hour.
The radio spot will air August 13 at 11pm, August 15 at 9am, August 17 at 11pm, and August 18 at 9pm. For those who don’t rock the subscription-based XM, his segment will also stream for free at RadioMargaritaville.com
