Michigan, Missouri may leapfrog Florida for earlier presidential primary

Michigan appears close to moving its presidential primary to February 28, the Detroit Free Press reports via The Political Wire.

“The date would make Michigan among the earliest presidential nominating states, behind only Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada. But the early primary could result in Michigan losing half its delegates to the GOP nominating convention because it would violate national party rules.”

Arizona has already decided to move its primary to February 28 and Frontloading HQ reports a bill to move Missouri’s primary from February back to March is now stalled in the state Senate.
