Mike Suarez to play pool and talk politics with Hillsborough Young Dems

Tampa City Council Member Mike Suarez is calling for future leaders to join him for a game of pool–and a little political talk.

Suarez is meeting Thursday with the Hillsborough County Young Democrats, looking to start a conversation about important Tampa issues like economic development, transit and the upcoming elections.

The event will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 27 at The Rack Billiards Lounge on Platt Street.

Young Democrats is a leadership program for budding politicians, professionals and community members from 18 to 40 years of age. They are a diverse group that talks politics, fostering relationships with politicians and works to promote Democrats running for elected office.

As a board member of both Hillsborough Area Regional Transit (HART) and the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), Suarez has become a strong advocate for improved county transportation and economic development.  He also helped develop InVision Tampa, a master plan for the Tampa City Center using federal incentives for new companies and effective transit options.

The Rack Sushi Bar and Billiards Lounge is at 1809 W Platt St., Tampa. For more information about the Hillsborough Young Democrats, visit www.hillsyoungdems.com, and can be followed on Twitter @HillsYoungDems
