More dental schools in Florida will have to wait, Board of Governors decides

Several members of  a university system Board of Governors committee said Thursday they want to continue to study whether to add any new dental schools to the system, and declined to take a vote on proposals for new schools, reports the News Service of Florida. The committee on Wednesday heard proposals for two new dental schools and an expansion of another, but several members said Thursday they needed more information. “I’d like to dig deeper into what these presentations are about,” said committee member John Rood at the board’s meeting at Florida International University in Miami. “After reading it and listening it to it, I’m still unclear on the plan.” Board member Patricia Frost said that if the group took a vote on Thursday, all three proposals probably would have been turned down.
