Orlando Sentinel endorses Republican Dan Webster over Democrat Val Demings for CD 10

Less than a week after conducting a dual interview, the Orlando Sentinel editorial board released their endorsement of Daniel Webster over Val Demings for Congressional District 10.

In the endorsement, the Board states that Webster has shown he is capable and willing to push bipartisan efforts for a balanced budget while protecting and preserving Medicare.

“Daniel Webster has repeatedly proven he prioritizes the people of Central Florida over politically popular, yet fiscally irresponsible positions,” said Webster spokeswoman Katie Patchett. “Our campaign appreciates the Editorial Board’s time and in-depth look into the issues.”

The Orlando Sentinel editorial board based their decisions on plans for preventing the approaching fiscal cliff and fixing Medicare. They state on their website that endorsements are made after talking with the candidates; looking at incumbents’ voting records; examining challengers’ credentials; going over their campaign platforms; reading their campaign literature; checking into their backgrounds; and sometimes consulting with other sources to see what they know.
