Speaker Will Weatherford has appointed Mike Moore to serve on the Department of Elder Affairs Advisory Council. Mike is one of two appointed by Speaker Weatherford to serve on behalf of the House of Representatives. Moore is the owner of VR Business Sales and Mergers & Acquisitions located in Wesley Chapel. Moore was also the founder and owner of CareFirst Home Care, a company that provides home health care services, before selling the Company in 2011. Below is more information on the appointment:
The council serves in an advisory capacity to the Secretary of DOEA in assisting him with carrying out the purposes, duties, and responsibilities of DOEA. The council makes recommendations to the Secretary, the Governor, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the President of the Senate regarding organizational issues and additions or reductions in the department’s duties and responsibilities. The advisory council is an independent nonpartisan body and are not subject to control, supervision, or direction by the department.
The advisory council is composed of one member appointed by the Governor from each of the state’s planning and service areas, which are designated in accordance with the Older Americans Act, two additional members appointed by the Governor (at-large), two members appointed by the President of the Senate, and two members appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
