Kristina Wiggins is the new deputy secretary of the Florida Department of Health. She will oversee the Office of Legislative Planning and the divisions of Children Medical Services, Information Technology, Disability Determinations, Medical Quality Assurance, Administration and Health Access and Tobacco.
She replaces Kim Berfield, who resigned from the agency in mid-December. Lucy Gee, director of the Division of Quality Assurance, performed those duties in the interim.
Wiggins has 13 years experience in state government, most recently as legislative analyst for theFlorida Senate Environmental Preservation and Conservation Committee since 2009. She also has been an analyst for the Florida Public Service Commission, the Committee on Domestic Security and Energy for the Florida House of Representatives, director of theReading Endorsement Program for Florida State University and program specialist for theFlorida Department of Education. She has a M.P.A. in Public Administration and a B.A. in Literature from the University of North Florida.
