The League of Women Voters Florida has named Orange County board member Patti Brigham as its new 1st vice president.
In addition to her active role on the board and the league’s Membership Committee, the Orlando native and University of Central Florida alumna has chaired the league’s Gun Safety Committee, which she formed, since 2014.
“Patti has shown tremendous leadership skills and passionate and professional advocacy in her time as an elected Board Director, Gun Safety State Chair,” LWVF President Pamela Goodman said. “I am pleased to serve with her in this position and look forward to everyone sharing her knowledge and commitment to our organization.”
Brigham’s background includes several years with suicide prevention and crisis center WeCare, Inc., as well as a career in radio as a reporter, writer and producer. During her time in radio, she won an award for Best Light News Feature from The Associated Press and was named the Best Female News Anchor by American Women in Radio and Television.
Outside of LWVF, Brigham volunteers for a marathon training program and Gold Coast Greyhounds, an organization that seeks out homes for retired racing dogs.
