Pinellas County Commissioner John Morroni is cautiously optimistic about keeping his seat tonight against Tea Party Republican Tom Rask.
Morroni has been cruising his district today talking to voters at polling places.
“I think most people know who they’re voting for before they go in,” Morroni said. “I didn’t hand anything out because I think that’s harassment.”
That’s something he said his opponent doesn’t seem to be too concerned about. Morroni said he’s heard from several supporters who have his sign in their yards that Rask has approached them trying to sway their votes.
“That’s kind of upsetting to me, talking to my friends,” Morroni said.
Morroni is also hoping that his campaign strategy will be enough for voters to side with him. His mailers and advertisements have focused on his accomplishments and not on his opponent.
“I can’t tell you how many people called me and said they wish more people were like that.”
Morroni will be celebrating what he cautiously expects to be a win tonight at the Hilton in Carillon.
