Quick goals rescue Lightning against Philadelphia, 4-2

in Sports/Top Headlines by

By the time Lightning fans were finished cheering Wednesday night, it was time to do it again.

The Lightning scored two goals in 12 seconds and came from behind to beat the Philadelphia Flyers, 4-2.

Tampa Bay trailed 2-1 when Alex Killorn scored with 13:28. A dozen seconds later, Ryan Callahan scored to put the Bolts ahead. Five minutes after that, Nikita Kucherov scored his 10th goal to put the game away.

“It was a great play, a great look,” Callahan said. “I was hoping (Brayden Point) saw me. He had a lot of poise there. A lot of guys would throw that at the net. It was a great pass by him and makes it pretty easy on me.”

The Lightning have won five of their last six games.

Andrei Vasilevskiy is now 6-1-1 on the season after stopping 29 of 31 shots. He has won four straight games.

Tampa Bay surrendered only two shots in the first period, but gave up 22 in the second.

“Well, we knew they were going to push back, and I think we put ourselves in bad situations,” Victor Hedman said. “We got out of our structure, forcing plays, and giving up odd man rushes. They’re a good team. They got a lot of skill over there so for us we just kind of lost our structure. We were a little impatient, especially when they scored that first one. We sat back a little too much and let them dictate the play. I think that’s what happened, but I’m pretty sure we’re going to look at the video tomorrow and obviously try to straighten that out.”

Tampa Bay is home against the Columbus Blue Jackets, led by former coach John Tortorella, on Friday.
