For a man who didn’t start the season with a defined role, Brandon Guyer is proving indispensable for the Tampa Bay Rays.
One day after a home run, Guyer went four-for-four to lead the Rays to their first series win of the season.
Matt Moore led the way to the win, throwing 6.1 innings and allowing only two runs and five hits. Alex Colome had his first save out of the bullpen.
“Brando is such a big part of our lineup,” said Rays manager Kevin Cash.
The Rays now travel to Boston to open a three-game set against the Red Sox. Drew Smyly pitches for Tampa Bay.
