On Monday, U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy will become one of only seven House Democrats honored with the “Spirit of Enterprise” award from the generally conservative U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Moore Hallmark, Executive Director of the Chamber’s Southeast Region, will be with the Palm Beach Gardens Democrat to celebrate his “pro-growth, pro-jobs policies during the first session of the 113th Congress.” Murphy narrowly defeated Tea Party darling Allen West 2012 to represent Florida’s 18th Congressional District, which serves much of northern Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie Counties.
Not only is Murphy a rare Democrat receiving the Chamber award, but he is also one of two in his freshman class to get the prestigious award.
Murphy will be celebrated at two events; the first is a private breakfast hosted by the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches and the Northern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce, followed by a luncheon open to the press beginning 11:45 a.m. on May 12 at the Martin Downs County Club, 3801 SW Greenwood Way in Palm City.
