Republican Mike Miller unseated freshman Democratic state Rep. Linda Stewart on Tuesday, as the GOP strives to gain seats in the Central Florida House delegation.

With nearly all of precincts reporting in House District 47, Miller leads 52 to 48 percent in the district covering much of Orange County, East Orlando, Winter Park and Belle Isle.

“While this election did not go as I hoped, the voters have spoken,” Stewart said in her concession speech. “I am proud of the positive campaign we ran and I want to thank everyone who made phone calls, knocked on doors, or talked to their neighbors about a positive vision for Orange County.

“It is my hope Mr. Miller will continue the fight for the values that make Orange County so special.”
