One of Florida’s brightest rising Democratic stars, Cesar Fernandez, has joined Charlie Crist’s campaign for Florida governor.

Fernandez is fresh off guiding Rick Kriseman to a win in St. Petersburg’s mayoral election. Before that, Fernandez helped steer Jeff Clemens to the Florida Senate.

A protege of Steve Schale, Fernandez has been working on Crist’s 2014 bid for about the last month, the campaign confirmed. His portfolio includes special projects, reaching out to elected officials and volunteer coordination.

Fernandez’ hiring is one of several recent additions and promotions made by the campaign. Expect those to be announced in the coming days and weeks.

The most important news, at least as it concerns Fernandez, is that he recently “crossed the bridge” and is now living in the ‘burg.
