State Rep. Ritch Workman took the first steps toward a Florida Senate run in 2018, according to the Division of Elections.
Workman is unopposed in his House District 52 re-election effort, and is term-limited as of 2016.
Two other lawmakers — Rep. Doug Holder and Sen. Dorothy Hukill โ joined Workman this week in opening campaign accounts for 2018 Senate campaigns.
Workman will seek the Senate District 16 seat, currently held by Sen. Thad Altman. SD 16 includes portions of Brevard and Indian River counties.
Altman is also seeking re-election this year; he faces a primary challenge from Monique Miller, a Melbourne Beach Republican.
