In the end, the Tampa Bay Rowdies fell just short.
The Rowdies were eliminated from post-season Sunday afternoon when the Fort Lauderdale Strikers beat the Jacksonville Armada 1-0. The Rowdies will now play top-seeded New York –which won 2-0 over Tampa Bay Saturday night – while Ottawa plays Minnesota.
For Tampa Bay, the finish had to be a bit disappointing, but understandable. The Rowdies were second in the Spring Season, but fell to eighth in the Fall. The Rowdies and Jacksonville tied for being the lowest-scoring team of the spring.
It remains to be seen how much this team will be overhauled in the off-season. Will coach Stuart Campbell return? Midfielder Freddie Adu? It remains to be seen in the weeks ahead.
