It is the question flying around City Hall, Midtown, the Municipal Services Building and the rest of the city government: Where is Goliath Davis?
Since first missing a staff meeting on Monday, Davis has been MIA from City Hall.
Not that he has to report to any gossiping city staffer, or to me for that matter, but no one — and I mean, no one, has seen Davis in several days.
Rumors and questions are swirling as the number of appointments and meetings Davis misses increase by the hour.
Codes Director Gary Bush, who is close to Davis as anyone, says he hasn’t seen Senior Administrator Davis this week and wouldn’t say the last time he saw him. So I asked Bush about Davis missing a staff meeting on Monday and he said he didn’t know anything about that either.
Davis’ city staffer, Tina, at first said she thought Davis had been in-and-out of his office this week, but when pressed she said she hadn’t actually seen Davis at City Hall.
Phone messages have gone unreturned. Media inquiries ignored. Meetings with City Council members canceled.
I’ve called Deputy Mayor Tish Elston, to whom Davis officially reports, but she has yet to respond.
Of course, all of this could be for naught. Perhaps Davis is on an unscheduled vacation. But no one in Human Resources knows anything about such a leave.
But right now, the question dominating the discussion around the water coolers in City Hall is: where has Go gone?
