Gov. Rick Scott has not named a Secretary of Transportation yet, but Tuesday he picked a chief of staff and general counsel for the high-profile state agency. Scott has received a list of three finalists from the panel that statutorily vets applicant transportation secretaries for the secretary position, but he chose Tuesday only to appoint former congressional staffer Francis Gibbs as Chief of Staff and current Department of Children and Families General Counsel Jerry Curington as DOT’s top lawyer, reports the News Service of Florida.
Gibbs comes to DOT after working for U.S Reps. Ander Crenshaw, R-Jacksonville, and Connie Mack, R-Cape Coral as a transportation policy advisor. Scott hailed both Tuesday.
