Sh*t, this went in a different direction …

Shit! There I said it.

So Alan Grayson offers a very weird criticism of Adam Smith, calling him – and this is an exact quote from the Times – “some kind of sh**ttng robot?!”

Smith may be a lot of things, and Lord knows I haven’t been his biggest fan, but a shitting robot? Is that even a thing?

As target rich as that tirade was for Floriduh-like commentary, allow me to touch on just a few observations.

First, the above quote was just a small sample taken from the entire asterisk-filled Grayson rant. There were many other times he referenced feces and other oddities not really worth reprinting – he was on quite a roll. It was like he was a 9 year old who just learned he could curse and he just let loose.

Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit.

There I said it and I didn’t even reach for the * key.

Second, does the addition of all those asterisks somehow protect our sensitive eyes from seeing offensive words like “shit” in print? Is sh*t really any different from “shit”? Do we think “sh*t” might not actually be an expletive? If “shit” offends me, am I less offended by “sh*t”? Normally, so as not to offend readers, I will default to the occasional eye-protecting asterisks when necessary. But when the basis, the real underlying theme of the piece, is the expletive-laced tirade, I think the media really needs to rip off the Band-aid and own it. Or at least make Mr. Grayson own it.

Which brings up the next point.

If someone wants to serve in the UNITED STATES SENATE, shouldn’t the things that come from his mouth not require an asterisk to be inserted into every fourth word? If what he is saying is so offensive that even George Carlin would have blushed, isn’t the point of the story to show just how offensive he was? And it’s not like he was angry about some major foreign policy failure or some gross affront to the American way of life. He was being asked some pretty basic questions about his voting record and how that squared with his own investment philosophy.

It seems to me that if Mr. Grayson wants to be a UNITED STATES SENATOR he really needs to get thicker skin and his fiery temper under control. If he wants to get that big promotion, maybe “potty mouth” shouldn’t be in too many headlines.

And finally, is this really the guy that the far left is calling their champion? Is this the man the Nan Rich crowd will vote for?

If this is what we can expect from a U.S. SENATE candidate, Alan Grayson, I have only one thing to say to those who would consider voting for him…

C’mon people … get your shit together!
