Four officers were honored at a ceremony for their role in taking down a teenager suspected in a shooting earlier in the year.

The Tampa Bay Times reports on Wednesday, St. Petersburg police officers Matthew Enhoffer and Michael Cordiviola were awarded the Medal of Valor while Todd Hancock and Brian Lynch were awarded with the Chief’s Exceptional Service Award.

In May, the four officers went to the home of 18-year-old Austin Goodner who had been suspected of shooting a man. Goodner opened fired at the officers, shooting Cordiviola in the leg. Lynch pulled Cordiviola away and used a garden hose as tourniquet.

Enhoffer returned fire and hit Goodner, who later died at the hospital.

Enhoffer says he had never fired his weapon in his five years on the department.
