Tuesday, the city of St. Petersburg will honor Earth Day with a letter delivered by City Council members Karl Nurse and Darden Rice. Tuesday, Rice and other city officials will also speak on the importance of protecting the environment and increasing clean energy initiatives.
“We will be right across the street from the Duke Energy headquarters,” Rice said Monday. “The overall point is that the community has been very vocal about wanting Duke Energy burning dirty coal and lead with clean energy.”
Besides pushing for cleaner fuels, Florida’s First Green City will roll out its first citywide universal curbside recycling initiative this fall.
The press conference takes place on the southeastern corner of Williams Park, 330 Second Ave. N., at 12 p.m.
