Stat of the Day in Florida politics

Patrick Manteiga of La Gaceta highlights an interesting statistic:

“So far, in Hillsborough County, 130,000 voters have requested absentee ballots for the primary and general election. This is a far greater number than in the last gubernatorial election cycle in 2010.”

This could mean any number of things, including that the Hillsborough Supervisor of Elections is, like his counterpart in Pinellas County, aggressively pushing voters to select the option of receiving an absentee ballot.

OR it could mean interest, particularly in the gubernatorial race, is driving voters to — months ahead of the election — make sure they are signed up to receive their ballot.

It’s probably a little of both, no?
