Chris Sprowls received the support of another state GOP heavyweight today when state Senator Jeff Brandes announced his endorsement in the race for House District 65.

As a former member of the U.S. Army reserves who served in Iraq, Brandes said it was Sprowls’ commitment to the veterans community as the main inspiration for his support. Sprowls will face incumbent Democratic Rep. Carl “Z” Zimmermann next year.

The St. Petersburg native joins Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, Florida CFO Jeff Atwater and State Attorney Bernie McCabe, among others, in supporting Sprowls to the seat that covers north Pinellas County, Tarpon Springs, Dunedin, Palm Harbor and East Lake..

“Today, I am proud to endorse Chris Sprowls for the Florida House of Representatives,” said Brandes. “His selfless dedication to those who wore the uniform demonstrates the kind of character and service needed in the Florida House. His career of public service at the State Attorney’s Office speaks for itself.”

Sprowls, 29, is the Assistant State Attorney for Florida’s Sixth Judicial Circuit, and the State Attorney’s special prosecutor in the Gang Unit.  He previously chaired the American Bar Association Law Student Division, as acted as spokesperson for the 60,000-member organization. Sprowls also helped develop the Stetson Law Veterans Advocacy Clinic in St. Petersburg.

“I am thrilled to receive an endorsement from someone like Senator Brandes who exemplifies service. Having worn the uniform in combat, very few people understand the value and cost of freedom like Senator Brandes does,” said Sprowls. “I truly look forward to working with him to ensure our seniors and veterans get the care, representation, and thanks they deserve.”
