Charlie Crist supports Elena Kagan nomination

in Statewide by

The St. Petersburg Times’ Adam Smith just tweeted: “Charlie Crist on Elena Kagan: ‘I think she’d do a great job’” Now this could get interesting: I’m told that Dem Senate candidate Kendrick Meek is about to call on Charlie Crist to reveal whether he’d vote to confirm Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court. Crist, intriguingly, has not said anything substantial about Kagan since her nomination was announced some 72 hours ago. Meek immediately released a statement strongly supporting the choice; Marco Rubio has come…

5 things I think about today’s St. Petersburg Times

“Who is Sandra Gadsden?” was the invariable response I received last evening from each person I asked if they knew who Sandra Gadsden is. I was at a fundraising reception chock full of political operatives and their handsome wives.  Each of these people recognized the names of  Adam Smith or Aaron Sharockman or David DeCamp.  Some even recognized John Frank’s name.  But not one person — and this is a room full of people who make St. Petersburg move –…

Sure to draw the ire of the freeloading public is a proposal, reported by David DeCamp, to charge $8 per car load to enter Fort DeSoto park, nationally popular for its beach.  It’s now free after paying a separate…

Red State claims coverage of RPOF scandal a ‘political hitjob’ on Marco Rubio

in Statewide by

When it comes to “Checks and Balances” in Florida’s print media, it is increasingly apparent that there is none. In a coordinated attack piece, orchestrated by someone who had access to the Republican Party of Florida’s (RPOF) credit card records, (and for the life of me, I can’t imagine it is from anyone who currently has access), major dailies from the Panhandle all the way down to Miami have printed the same story of credit card spending by the RPOF,…
