USF gives a five-year contract extension to coach Willie Taggart

They didn’t reach the AAC championship game, but Saturday was an enjoyable day for Willie Taggart and the USF Bulls. Taggart signed a five-year extension with the Bulls. His new salary, and possibly his new buyout number, were not announced. Taggart was on the hot seat earlier in the season after a 1-3 start. But the Bulls won seven of their last eight to finish second in their division. The finish got Taggart an interview with South Carolina on Friday.

USF Bulls ride quarterback Quentin Flowers to win over UCF

Quinton Flowers threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more as the USF Bulls finished their season strongly. USF beat the Central Florida Knights 44-3 Thursday night, their eighth win in their final nine games. UCF fell to 0-12. The Bulls were barely challenged by UCF after the Knights took a 3-0 lead. The South Florida Bulls are mourning the death of one of their former players this morning. Elkino Watson, 23, was stabbed in Ybor City early Sunday morning. Watson appeared in 45 games as a Bull. Desmond Horne, who also played with the Bulls, was also injured.
