Safety Harbor Mayor Andy Steingold, a panel member, and other mayors supported a push to replace the county administrator, who is now hired by the County Commission, with a county mayor elected by voters. But a 9-3 majority decided against the dramatic step. The charter panel has the power to put questions on the ballot.
