Initial paperwork filed to open Clearwater-area brewery

Clearwater may be getting a new microbrewery. According to documents filed with the state, a company named Fat Lion Brewing applied for an environmental resource permit from the Southwest Florida Water Management District in August. Rick Scott signed the growler bill last week, Scott’s signature on Senate Bill 186 repealing Florida’s longstanding and sort of silly ban on 64-ounce growlers was a win for several Tampa Bay lawmakers, including state Sen. Growler bill gets sent to the House with add-ons

The Florida Senate has sent a growler bill to the House for consideration. The Senate approved 38-0 a revised growler bill that would allow Florida craft breweries to sell 64-ounce growlers. Current law allows the larger one-gallon size and the smaller quart size, but not the most popular half-gallon containers.
