Two pieces of good news for downtown St. Pete are coming down today. The space formerly occupied by Bruce Waters Jewelers on Beach Drive will be the home of Stillwaters Tavern as soon as June 20. A new drinking hub in downtown St. Pete that just opened in January is already facing closure. Alvin’s Lounge on First Avenue North near Beach Drive reportedly hasn’t been paying its rent. Second grocery store planned for downtown St. Pete

Downtown St. Pete will soon have a second grocery store. According to Fox 13, a developer has filed plans with the city to build a 32,000 square-foot grocery store with another 18,000 square-feet of planned retail space. It’s not yet clear what chain is planned for the space, but renderings filed show the word ā€œgrocerā€ in Publix’s token green. St. Pete has successfully wrangled a new corporation to base itself in downtown. TwinLab Consolidation Corp. has entered into a lease with First Central Tower that begins May 1. There are now three lawsuits plaguing development of an 18-story luxury condo overlooking Tampa Bay and Beach Drive in downtown St. Pete. The latest lawsuit filed by the developer alleges one of the other two suits is hindering his ability to secure funding for the project.
