Vern Buchanan says Brussels attack demands plan of action

in The Bay and the 'Burg/Top Headlines by

Terror attacks in Brussels Tuesday morning should serve as a wake-up call that the Obama administration needs to release its overdue plan to defeat ISIS, says U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan. The Sarasota Republican points out that the government has already missed a congressionally-mandated deadline of Feb. 15 to submit a detailed plan to defeat the terrorist organization. “The attack … in Belgium is further evidence that ISIS is a growing threat to the United States and the global community,” Buchanan…

in Statewide/Top Headlines by

Miami is the host for presidential debates of both major parties over the next 36 hours, but will the moderators focus on what Florida voters actually care about? On Wednesday, it will start making “haha,” “angry” and three other responses available in the U.S. and the rest of the world. In changing a core part of Facebook – the 7-year-old “like” button has become synonymous with the social network – the company said it tried to keep things…

in Apolitical/Top Headlines by

Messages of love and gratitude shared by the boy band One Direction topped Twitter’s charts this year, eclipsing President Barack Obama‘s celebration of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision legalizing gay marriage. One Direction members accounted for half of the 10 most recirculated tweets, including the three most popular. All the One Direction tweets were either directed at bandmates or the group’s fans.
