USF Bulls overpowered by Temple as defense exposed

in Sports/Top Headlines by

A suspect defense caught up to the USF Bulls Saturday night, as Temple marched through the Bulls on their way to a surprisingly easy victory. Temple beat the Bulls, 46-30, as it exposed the Bulls’ defense, which came into the game rated No. 70 in the nation. That defense had been overshadowed by the usually potent USF offense, but Temple pretty much held that in check, too. Perhaps USF should have seen it coming. The Bulls have given up 20…

USF’s Quentin Flowers wins weekly Sunshine State Award

in Sports/Top Headlines by

In the history of the USF Bulls, every other running back is now watching Marlon Mack run away. Mack broke the record on a 49-yard touchdown run. Quarterback Quinton Flowers had 196 yards passing and 74 yards rushing. “I was really excited about our defense,” said…

A win over FSU would rank as USF’s biggest day ever

in Sports by

Back in its run as king-slayers, the USF football team had quite a few moments to savor. They beat Auburn, and it was wonderful. They beat Miami, and it was terrific. They beat Notre Dame, and it was sublime. They beat Louisville and West Virginia and Kansas and North Carolina. Back in the day, it was hardly a surprise if USF beat anyone on its schedule. But this would be the best one. Above all others, this would be the keeper. After all,…
