There will be at least a bit of the Sunshine State in the upcoming Super Bowl. Former FSU running back Devonta Freeman, who had his second straight 1,000-yard season this year, will lead the Atlanta Falcons. Former FSU guard Tre’ Jackson is on the Patriots’ physically unable to perform list. The Florida Gators have been represented in 15 straight Super Bowls, since the Tampa Bay Bucs won. This year, both Keanu Neal and Brian Poole play for the Atlanta Falcons.

Former teammate Davonta Freeman praises Jameis Winston

Tampa Bay is learning to like quarterback Jameis Winston. Former teammates Devonta Freeman knew it all the time. Freeman, Winston’s teammate at Florida State, was always of the Winston’s competitiveness, of his fight, of his stubbornness. Together, Freeman and Winston won one national title and made the playoffs the next year. “One of my main memories of him [is] how competitive he was,” Freeman said. “He’s a guy [who has] that killer mentality, like, ‘I won’t stop, I won’t stop,…

Just for fun, the Tampa Bay Bucs may have cut Josh Freeman all over again Thursday night. This time, they may have erased him from the roster of the Miami Dolphins. The Bucs won a 22-17 victory over the Dolphins, and in the last stages of the game, safety Keith Tandy picked off Freeman twice to snuff out Miami’s final threats and, finally, gave Bucs’ fans a reason to celebrate Freeman throwing interceptions. Freeman was already in a fight to…

The second-chance kids are off to slow starts. Not that either of them are close to starting. Former Tampa Bay Bucs quarterback Josh Freeman struggled in his preseason game for the Miami Dolphins Thursday night, hitting only five of 16 passes for 76 yards with no touchdowns. Freeman, cut and then brought back by Miami earlier this off-season, is fighting for the No. 3 quarterback job on the team with McLeod Bethel-Thompson. If Freeman looks like a longshot to make…

Dolphins re-sign Josh Freeman, who may make it to camp after all

in Sports/Top Headlines by

He’s back. Josh Freeman, who has been hanging onto his NFL career by a thread, has been re-signed by the Miami Dolphins only days after he was released by them. For Freeman, it should be sobering news just how few observers were surprised he had been cut, even before training camp. However, most NFL teams go to training camp with at least four quarterbacks to ensure continuity in the passing drills. Freeman is still considered to be behind starter Ryan…
