Was Go Davis really coming from the hospital on the night he was stopped for suspicion of DUI?

On December 15, 2009,  just before two o’clock in the morning, City of St. Petersburg Deputy Mayor Goliath Davis was stopped for suspicion of DUI.  During the stop, Davis told the police officer who had pulled him over that he did not have his driver’s license because he had just returned from the hospital — as if going to the hospital excuses one from carrying their driver’s license.
