Carly Fiorina seems to be the biggest winner in polling since the GOP debate last week, says Harry Enten of fivethrityeight.com. “She gained ground in every poll taken after the debate,” he writes. “In five of the seven polls, the gain was six percentage points or more.” Scott Walker was the biggest loser. “This one surprised me a little, but the polling is clear. Walker is the only candidate who lost ground in every single post-debate poll.” Donald Trump gets a…

Republicans are steeling themselves for a long period of uncertainty following a raucous first debate of the 2016 presidential campaign. There are no signs that Thursday’s debate will winnow their wide-open field anytime soon. It wasn’t supposed to be this way. Before the campaign got underway, Republican Party leaders developed a streamlined set of debates and a nomination calendar that aimed to avoid a messy fight. But few envisioned a field of 17 candidates, the explosion of outside money that…

Donald Trump was last night’s biggest loser in the first official GOP presidential debate heading into election season. That’s according to USF St. Pete political scientist and professor emeritus Darryl Paulson. “People watch [debates] not to see who wins, but to see who crashes and to me the guy who hit the rail last night was Donald Trump,” Paulson said during an interview with this reporter on WMNF’s Midpoint political talk show.
