City of St. Pete schedules public hearing to debate merits of 3 am ‘last call’

At the April 15th meeting of the St. Petersburg City Council, there will be the first reading of revision of the city ordinance to push the “last call” for alcohol from 2 am to 3 am, with a public hearing scheduled for May 6.  You can read the perfectly simple ordinance language here.

Another day, another bar closes in St. Petersburg (maybe we should extend “last call” to 3 a.m.). One of my favorite watering holes, the Happy Shack on 4th Street aka The Recession Shack, so named because of its 99 cent Miller High Life drafts, has closed its doors as the owners and management focus on opening their BBQ joint across the street.
