Montreal blanks Tampa Bay Lightning in disappointing content

in Sports/Top Headlines by

As the playoffs approach, the Tampa Bay Lightning look less and less ready for them. The Bolts lost a 3-0 game to a Montreal team that has long since been eliminated from the post-season. But the Lightning, too, looks wobbly. Tampa Bay got off only three shots in the third period, and had a power play when it didn’t get any. Tampa Bay has one more game at home, a Saturday night effort against New Jersey, before finishing the season…

Goaltender Ben Bishop spectacular in victory over Toronto

in Uncategorized by

Toronto had more energy. But Tampa Bay had Ben Bishop. Toronto had more shots, more life, more energy. But Tampa Bay had Bishop. Toronto had more scoring chances. But Tampa Bay had Bishop. And so it went. For every advantage the Maple Leafs had Monday night, the Bolts had Bishop, who played perhaps his best game of the year. Stralman, who pairs with Victor Hedman on the team’s top defensive line, broke the fibula in his left leg in a 7-4 victory over the New York Islanders. The injury will certainly cost Stralman the rest of the regular season. The team hopes he can return for…

The Tampa Bay Lightning played as if it is running short of time. Which, in a way, it is. Entering its final 10 games, the Lightning clobbered the Detroit Red Wings Tuesday night, 6-2, in one of its easiest wins of the year. “We have 10 games left, and we’re not going to waste any of them,” said reserve Eric Condra. In fact, it was Condra who led the way for Tampa Bay, scoring twice. That’s not bad when you…

Lightning falls again as Dallas makes third-period comeback

in Sports/Top Headlines by

There for a while, the Tampa Bay Lightning had designs on first place in the Atlantic Division. These days, it just wants to stop the slide.
