At Tiger Bay debate, Charlie Crist, David Jolly agree on at least one thing: their opponent is a liar

in The Bay and the 'Burg/Top Headlines by

The two candidates in the race for Florida’s U.S. Congressional District 13 entered the Tiger’s Den at a Suncoast Tiger Bay Club luncheon Thursday and walked away agreeing that the other party is a liar. The forum began peacefully enough with Republican incumbent David Jolly portraying himself as he has throughout the campaign — as a maverick Republican who bravely stands against his party on certain principles and works to create collaboration between the parties in Congress. Jolly also assured…

in The Bay and the 'Burg/Top Headlines by

2015 was supposed to be the year that the Florida Legislature authorized funding to replenish its depleted film tax incentives package, allowing the Sunshine State to compete with Louisiana, Georgia and other Southeastern states in getting its fair share of movie and television production work. Charlie Crist. Darden Rice. Ken Welch. Dwight Dudley. The Florida Supreme Court declared last week that a total of eight congressional districts need to be redrawn, after they declared…

in The Bay and the 'Burg by

The teachers running for Pinellas school board this year are miffed they didn’t win backing from what would seem a natural ally: the teachers union. The union’s political action committee chose incumbent Linda Lerner over middle school teacher Brian Hawley and retired principal Terry Krassner over math/science coach Fonda Huff. The union’s PAC also endorsed incumbent Peggy O’Shea over Greg Hunsinger, who retired as a teacher last year. “Very frustrated” is how Hawley, a teachers union representative at Largo Middle School, described his reaction…
