Peggy O’Shea draws a challenger

From  the Gradebook: resident Greg Hunsinger has filed to run for the Pinellas County School Board against incumbent Peggy O’Shea. Hunsinger’s bid in the at-large District 3 race means all three incumbents up for re-election – O’Shea, Mary Brown and Linda Lerner – are facing challengers. A fourth seat is up for grabs because incumbent Nina Hayden is running for state Senate.

Looks like there is a lot of interest in running for the Pinellas School Board.  Checking out the Supervisor of Elections’ website after reading Pinski Politics, I notice that Democratic activist Jim Jackson has filed to run for the District 7 seat on the Pinellas County School Board (currently held by Mary Brown).  Also, filing for District 7 is Keisha Bell, while dentist Mendee Ligon has filed to run for the seat being vacated by Nina Hayden. Lawyer files to run against Mary Brown for Pinellas School Board

Attorney Keisha Bell has filed to run for the Pinellas School Board seat now held by two-term incumbent Mary Brown. According to a press release, Bell, 35, is a St. Petersburg native, a member of the NAACP and Pinellas County Urban League and a youth mentor. Bell is the first candidate to challenge one of three incumbents up for re-election this year (Brown, Linda Lerner and Peggy O’Shea). Retired teacher Charles McKenzie is also considering running against Brown.
