ABC’s Jake Tapper tries to lure Sarah Palin into Sunday-show rotation via Twitter

in Uncategorized by

Stopping by the Sunday-morning chat shows once seemed like a prerequisite for any politician seeking national office. But Sarah Palin broke that tradition during the 2008 campaign by skipping all the Sunday shows — a marked contrast to her running mate John McCain, who’s long been a permanent fixture on the political chat circuit. Palin has certainly kept her name out there since 2008, however, with high-profile speaking gigs, regularly posting endorsements and policy positions on Facebook and Twitter, and writing a best-selling book.…

Charlie Crist on ‘Meet the Press’ this morning

in Uncategorized by

U.S. Senate candidates Charlie Crist and Marco Rubio will soak up the national media glare today. Crist will be on CNN’s “State of the Nation” and NBC’s “Meet the Press.” Rubio is also doing “State of the Nation” as well as “FOX News Sunday.” What about Kendrick Meek?  Beth Reinhard points out that he will be on, um, a local channel, WPLG-Channel 10’s worthwhile “This Week in South Florida with Michael Putney.” I better get the DVR ready.

We’ve noted that ABC’s This Week is working with PolitiFact.com on a trial basis to provide a weekly fact-check of the network’s Sunday show and that rival David Gregory, host of NBC’s Meet the Press has said of fact-checking his program, “people can fact-check Meet the Press every Sunday on their own terms.” Not content with letting Gregory off the hook, a pair of college students has launched MeetTheFacts.com in an effort to put pressure on the NBC Sunday show to do the right thing.…

The Palm Beach Post writes it has yet to hear back after several inquiries to Marco Rubio’s campaign about whether Rubio wants to wait until May for a second debate with Charlie Crist. (AP’s Brendan Farrington tweeted Sunday that Rubio wants to wait until after both candidates officially qualify for the race, which can happen anytime between noon on April 12 and noon on April 30.) Such a tactic enables Rubio to fan speculation that Crist will either abandon the…

Charlie Crist blasts Marco Rubio over Meet(ing) the Press

in Statewide by

The Charlie Crist for U.S. Senate campaign today responded to Speaker Rubio’s refusal to debate Gov. Charlie Crist on “Meet the Press” this Sunday, March 7th. Speaker Rubio pretended that he would debate Gov. Crist anytime or anywhere, however, after Gov. Crist agreed to debate Speaker Rubio on “Meet the Press,” Rubio’s bluff was called and his words, yet again, were shown not to match his actions. “My opponent, for all of his good rhetoric, mostly talks about standing up…

Tucker Carlson asks St. Petersburg Times’ Adam Smith to return look

in The Bay and the 'Burg by

After his appearance on Bay News 9’s political connections this past Sunday, Adam Smith, the political editor of the St. Petersburg Times, was startled to receive an irate phone call from Fox News’ Tucker Carlson who had a very straightforward request of Smith.“Give me back my ‘look,’” an obviously distraught Carlson pleaded with Smith after the latter “borrowed” one of Carlson’s blue blazer and bow tie get-ups, a wardrobe referred to in the fashion world as prep-school geek chic. Evidently,…
