‘Work in progress’ Magic takes next step

in Sports by

Although the Orlando Magic assumed more than $50 million in salaries on four new players this season, there was little return on investment in the first three games. The additions of Bismack Biyombo, Serge Ibaka, D. J. Augustin, and Jeff Green were not putting Orlando anywhere near a victory early on. While they did not expect to also be bringing in a new coach, that necessity was forced on them by the resignation of Scott Skiles after one season. Frank Vogel…

For the second straight game the Orlando Magic came back from a huge deficit on the road. Unlike Saturday’s effort that came up just short in Cleveland, Orlando defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 103-101 at the Wells Fargo Center. To earn their first win of the season, and the first for Frank Vogel as Orlando’s coach, the Magic had to come all the way back from an 18-point deficit to secure their first victory. Orlando never got within 10 points the rest of…

July 4 is when baseball teams reach the half-way point of their seasons. For the other three major sports, it marks the beginning of the upcoming season. Orlando struggles to regain the Magic

in Sports/Top Headlines by

Thank goodness for the Brooklyn Nets. If not for them, the Orlando Magic would be in a full throttle nose dive. As it is, Orlando has lost six straight games, including one at home to the Philadelphia 76ers, dropping to 20-23. The Sixers, at 6-39, are clearly the worst team in the NBA. The Magic ended 2015 with a victory over the Nets on December at the Amway Center to end the year at 19-13. First-year Coach Scott Skiles promised…
